Nature's Storehouse


 
As the home of giant panda – the “living fossil”, Sichuan is bordered by the Tibetan Plateau in the west and by the Three Gorges and the Yangtze River in the east. The eastern part of the Sichuan basin is ringed by lofty mountains and experiences a subtropical and humid climate.

With a history of over 4,500 years, Sichuan has been renowned as the “Land of Abundance”. The nature has endowed Sichuan with the richest tourist resources in China. Visitors to this province can enjoy a wide variety of beautiful landscapes, rich historic relics and delicious local cuisine.

Itinerary -. 8 Days/7 Nights Chengdu (3N), Wolong (1N), Songpan (1N), & Jiuzhaigou (2N)

Day01 Arrive Chengdu

Upon arrival into Chengdu – the capital city of Sichuan Province, you will be greeted and transferred to your hotel. Remainder of the day will be free at leisure.

Day02 Chengdu (B/L)

Among the few excursions you are going to take, Leshan, around 150km away from Chengdu, is the first one worthwhile spending a full day. The Giant Buddha of Leshan, over 71m tall and began its carving in 713 AD on the cliff face of Mount Lingyun, is reputed to be the largest stone Buddha in the world. As the saying goes, “The Mountain is a Buddha, the Buddha is a mountain”.

Day03 Chengdu (B/L/SD)

This morning travel 40km by road to see the Sanxingdui Museum, where two sacrificial pits were found in 1986. It is another very important archeological discovery in China after the Terra Cotta pits of Xian. Among the hordes of prize antiquities there are a variety of unique and grotesque bronze works. Your tour also includes visit to the Thatched Cottage of Du Fu – one of the most beloved classic poets in China, and Marquis Wu Shrine whose relics date back to the old kingdom. Enjoy a local cuisine dinner which is normally spicy and hot.

Day04 Chengdu – Wolong (B/L)

Head to the north of Chengdu in the morning to visit the Dujiangyan Irrigation Project. It was completed around 250 BC and has stood tests for more than 2,200 years. Continue by road to the Wolong Nature Reserve where there are over 4,000 species of plants and designed primarily to protect giant panda.

Day05 Wolong – Songpan (B/L)

Located in Wenchuan County of Sichuan Province, the Wolong Nature Reserve was initially set up in 1970s’ by the Chinese Government in cooperation with WWF and accepted by the UNESCO in 1980 as a member of MAB. With a cool climate, it is in favorable conditions for preservation and reproduction of giant panda. After the visit, travel to Songpan where you will stay overnight.

Day06 Songpan – Jiuzhaigou (B/L/D)

Today you will continue your drive further into the northern part of Sichuan. On the way you will visit Huanglong or Yellow Dragon which has some of the most beautiful scenery in the world. Along the 7.5 kilometers canyon are 3,400 lakes, despite coming from the same source, each lake is a different color.

Day07 Jiuzhaigou (B/L/D)

Take a full day exploration of Jiuzhaigou National Park – the listed member of the World Natural Heritage and a true fairyland which is far from the noises and strains of city life. The name Jiuzhaigou refers to the 9 Tibetan villages that are situated in the valley which has more than 100 lakes of various sizes and a variety of natural scenery such as waterfalls, snowy mountains, lush green forests, etc.

Day08 Jiuzhaigou – Chengdu (B)

Transfer to the Jiuzhaigou Airport for flight back to Chengdu where it is convenient to connect flight if you want to further explore place like Lhasa or onward flight to your next destination.
