BEIJING

As the capital
of the People's Republic of China, Beijing is the
nation's political, economic, cultural and educational center as
well as being the most important center in China for international
trade and communications. It has been the heart and soul of politics
and society throughout its long history.

SHANGHAI

Shanghai, called
"Hu" for short, is a bustling metropolis located at the
mouth of the Yangtze River. Connected with Jiangsu and Zhejiang
provinces in the west, the city is exposed to the East China Sea
in the east. With a total area of 6,341 square kilometers (about
2,448 square miles) and a population of more than 13 million, Shanghai
takes its place among the world's biggest, most booming urban areas.

Characterized

Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region is blessed with colorful resources
and is an imposing region for sightseeing. Located between 109 east
longitude and 24 north latitude in the northeastern corner of Guangxi
Zhuang Autonomous Region; in the southwest of the Five Ridges and
the west bank of Li River.

Shaanxi
Province is one of the most important cradles of ancient Chinese
civilization. As far back as one million years ago, some of China's
earliest inhabitants lived in this region, and began spreading their
culture along the life-sustaining Yellow River. Throughout the province's
long history, there are 13 dynasties who established capitals here,
including the Zhou, the Qin, the Han, and the Tang. Because of this
rich history, cultural relics and ruins are plentiful, and may be
found preserved both above- and underground. So Shaanxi is called
the "authentic history museum" in China.

In terms of beauty, Zhejiang
has long been a scenic spot for tourists since ancient time. Its
capital, Hangzhou, with a long history of more than 2000 years,
is a famous historic and cultural city. Furthermore, it is one of
the six ancient capitals in China (The other five are Beijing, Xian,
Nanjing, Luoyang and Kaifeng). There's a saying that illustrates
the charm of Hangzhou: "In heaven there is paradise, and on
earth there are Hangzhou and Suzhou."

Nanjing
is a famous ancient capital in China, the capital of 10 dynasties;
it is one of the historical and cultural cities in the world; also
known as "Jinling", "Tianjing", "Stone
City", etc, it was named Nanjing in Ming dynasty, being called
"Ning" for short.

Known as
"Gusu city", having the fame of "Oriental Venice",
Suzhou was set up in BC 514; being a city with history of more than
2500 years, it was named Suzhou in A.D.581, Sui dynasty.

Located
between north latitude 31 07' - 32 00', east longitude 119 31' -
120 36'; situated in the middle of the Yangtze Delta, Taihu Plain
southeast of Jiangsu province; the Yangtze River to the north and

from Shanghai.

Chengdu is the capital of Sichuan and
is the cultural and industrial center for the agricultural Chengdu
Plain. Chengdu was one of the first centers of printing in China
and has been famous for its luxurious satins, brocades, and lacquer
ware since the 13th century.

CHONGQING

Chongqing is a modern
city, with an ancient history spanning more than 3,000 years. It
is the nation's fourth municipality after Beijing, Shanghai and
Tianjin. It encompasses within its borders, a great wealth of water
reserves, mineral resources, dense forests and abundant flora and
fauna. Being the focal point of the unique Yangtze Three Gorges
tourist industry, Chongqing is a tourist attraction as well as being
a commercial city.

XIAMEN

Fujian Province, with
its capital Fuzhou, is on China's southeastern coast. It faces the
island province of Taiwan across Taiwan Strait to the east. Neighboring
provinces are Zhejiang to the north, Jiangxi to the west, and Guangdong
to the south. Fujian occupies an area of around 120,000 square kilometers
(about 46,335 square miles). Its permanent resident population is
slightly above 34.7 million. Many minority ethnic groups live in
Fujian province: Hui, Miao and Manchu.

SHIGATSE

There are wonderful
monasteries comparable with those in Lhasa, like Tashilhunpo, Sakya
and Shalu. The highlight of Shigatse is surprisingly high snow capped
peaks. Most of the highest peaks in Tibet, including Mt. Everest,
are around Shigatse, in Shigatse prefecture.
